About Cherrywood
Founded in 2022, Cherrywood Learning Academy was established on our belief in nurturing the potential within each child. Our mission is to instil and share academic excellence.
Our programs are designed to be safe, engaging and interactive to help students grow academically and socially. We tailor our learning materials to the personalized needs of individual students. We pride ourselves on fostering a positive and encouraging environment where learning is captivating and progress is celebrated.
How We Got Started
The founder of Cherrywood, Lily The, has over twenty years of experience as an educator in Canada. She specifically focused on early childhood education from Kindergarten to Grade 2. She spent five years working at the Richmond School Board. Her passion for working with children drew her back into the classroom, where she spent the last two years building a learning club from the ground up into a suitable learning environment for almost two hundred students.
As parents are vital to a child’s education, Cherrywood was built to provide support to both the parent and the child. Since the beginning, we offered a system of picking up the students from their schools and bringing them to the centre to continue their learning. As the centre expanded, more extracurriculars and programs were introduced to perpetuate the interests of each individual and increase their student portfolio. With university in mind as the end goal, Cherrywood decided to provide further teaching of subjects to students who need more time and effort to understand their work. Like a tree, we grow with our students.
Our Goals
Unlike other learning centres in Metro Vancouver, Cherrywood helps international students transition smoothly into Canada and the Canadian education system. From academic support to cultural guidance, we ensure our students feel comfortable in their new environment.
We maintain and deliver personalized and high-quality education. By maintaining small classroom sizes, we ensure individualized attention for every student. We also develop customized learning plans tailored to each student targeting their strengths and challenges.
This education centre prepares students for academic competitions and excellence. There are opportunities for specialized training in English, math and science competitions. The training includes rigorous coaching for contests such as Euclid, Gauss, national writing and debate competitions. Cherrywood fosters a competitive yet supportive environment where students can challenge themselves and excel.
